Partner With Purpose

The Study Abroad Program in The Gambia is designed for universities seeking meaningful, field-based learning for their students.

Coordinated by me in partnership with Jokkolabs Banjul, the program places students in structured internships across sectors, while offering rich cultural immersion and academic framing.

Why Partner With Me?

With a background in coaching, facilitation, and education program design, I understand the academic pressures institutions face — and how to design learning experiences that are rigorous, meaningful, and scalable.

I navigate systems across Europe, West Africa, and America fluently. With roots in the U.S. and Germany, family ties in Gambia, and professional experience in both regions, I offer cultural fluency and logistical clarity across continents.

This program is not built on extraction or savior narratives. It’s centered in African realities and local knowledge. We emphasize reciprocity, reflection, and frameworks that shift how students relate to the world.

I handle recruitment, student preparation, university liaison, on-site coordination (through Jokkolabs Banjul), and follow-up so you don’t have to manage complexity alone.

Program Overview

Hands-on internships. Deep cultural engagement. Structured support. The Study Abroad Program in The Gambia, facilitated by Jokkolabs Banjul, offers students the chance to step outside the classroom and into real-world learning environments.

Flexible between 2–8 weeks, with most students joining for 6–8 weeks during summer or semester breaks.

University Collaboration Options

Why Gambia?

The Gambia is safe, English-speaking, and known for its hospitality. It offers a grounded, intimate context for international learning at “The Smiling Coast of Africa” — far from the noise, and close to the heart of what matters: connection, contribution, and critical reflection.

Trustworthy Partnership

Jokkolabs Banjul, established in April 2015 as the first innovation social change hub in The Gambia, is a dynamic innovation hub and coworking space dedicated to fostering technology, social innovation, and entrepreneurship in the country.

Ideal Location

The Gambia is the smallest country on mainland Africa, a narrow strip of land nestled entirely within Senegal, with the Atlantic Ocean to its west.

Its compact size makes it easy to navigate, offering students access to diverse regions and communities without the overwhelm of large, sprawling cities.

Rooted Access

Just a few hours drive from the dynamic metropolitan hub of Dakar, The Gambia provides a unique balance: Rooted in tradition, connected to West Africa’s urban pulse.

How it works

Whether you represent a university, a student, or a faculty leader — welcome. Ready to learn more? Let’s talk about how your university can partner. Here are the next steps to your Internship-Based Study Abroad in Gambia:

Whether you’re exploring initial possibilities or ready to formalize collaboration, I’d be happy to start a conversation. Contact Me!

We agree on the number of students, timelines, and any university-specific requirements. Faculty-led options are welcome. For example

  • Faculty-led programs and credit recognition
  • Customized content and research opportunities
  • Joint seminars or academic exchange with
    The University of The Gambia

I work with you to tailor placements by field — e.g., education, public health, sustainability — and integrate research, seminars, or faculty engagement where relevant.

Students receive guidance on travel, insurance, visas, vaccinations, and cultural context. Housing, orientation, and 24/7 local support are provided.

Internships are matched to student goals and supervised by vetted local partners. Weekly seminars, cultural excursions, and reflection sessions anchor the experience.

I coordinate with faculty or administrators to document the learning outcomes and ensure the program continues to evolve.
